3 BEST DAILY PRODUCTIVITY APPS That I Can’t Live Without And You Should

Todoist: to-do list & planner

Todoist to-do list & planner app logo

I would like to start off this list with Todoist. It has been my favorite task management for a while now. I have tried out various task management apps but this was the one app that I always kept coming back to. This is surely my most used app after all the social media apps. One of the many reasons why I use this app is because it is cross-platform.

Many of the apps I previously used, Things 3 for example, you can only use on Mac OS or an iPhone. My primary computer is a Windows machine so it made no sense for me to stick to that. This one has surely helped me in that matter. I basically manage all my projects through Todoist. I’m on the free version hence I can have up to 5 projects as of now.

I didn’t upgrade cause I don’t really have more than 5 ongoing projects. But in case I do, I manage the least important ones in Notion, we will talk about that app later in this article. I break down my tasks into chunks so that I don’t lose motivation midway. I also like to mention the dates on when I want a certain task to be completed.

If I want to make an article on Apple Notes, I just won’t add the ‘Create Apple Notes article’ to my Todolist. I would rather break that into small chunks, like for this one I would create a task called ‘research’ in the beginning. Once I’m done with that I will then add a task called ‘Script the article’ and ‘Finalize the content of the article’ and then I will have access to the final file.

You can work more efficiently this way. You can add reminders if you have the pro version, I set my reminders through Amazon Alexa hence I don’t really need that feature. Whatever random tasks I have I just add them to the inbox, like I had to call my Gym Buddy to tell him I will again be skipping gym tomorrow.

Wallet: Budget Expense Tracker

Wallet Budget Expense Tracker

The next app I would like to feature is called WalletApp. I have recently started using this app and trust me, I needed this in my life. This has surely become an important part of my life now. I used to spend on random stuff and then used to always regret it. It took me a while to implement this habit permanently but I’m thankful that I did this.

This is basically an expense tracker app. Whenever I spend money, even if it’s a small amount like ₹10 which converts to around $0.12, I note them done. From buying chewing gum to buying a new camera, I just got this one recently. I note them down. I don’t really log in the money I earn as I just want to see my expenses.

I just did this so that I could see this red graph which is always going down and feel bad about it. Seeing the graph just affects me psychologically and reminds me to spend less and save more. This small yet effective change really helped me manage my funds a lot. Speaking about the app itself you can use this on both Android and iOS and they also have a web version so you can access it using your computer.

You can sync your bank account or credit cards and it will automatically add to your expenses for you. But I don’t do that, you can feel the pain even more if you manually type in the amount. Even though that auto-sync is a great feature, I would rather manually log in for this case. It shows all your expenses in different graphical formats so you can easily trace where all your money went.

Notion – notes, docs, tasks

Notion app

The third app for today is Notion. You might be familiar with this app as most of the highly productive YouTubers like Ali Abdaal, Thomas Frank, etc all use this app to run their lives.

I originally started using it just as a note-taking app, but I have now started to use it in a more effective way and this surely has helped me stay a lot productive.

As I said I do all my project management on Todoist, I just have them listed here to keep reminding myself about them. I also have the clock widget and it’s quite a decent addition. Below that I have also added a widget of my Google Calendar.

I use the time-blocking method to plan my day, hence this is a good addition for me in my Mindpalace. I also have added the default Notion calendar to this page called Planner. Here I only plan my uploads, i.e. this article is going to be uploaded on what day.

It helps me plan my content in advance. The reason I do this here instead of Google Calendar is that my Google My calendar is often filled with multiple tasks and events cause of my time-blocking habit.

I can simply declutter my mind here as I don’t already have 1000s of Events in here. It becomes way easier by this process. I also Script my articles here. The Notion AI can really be helpful, to be honest. It can give you a head start when you want to write something.

And once I’m done with the script, I drag and drop it to my Archives folder so that I can get access to it later if I need to. I also Note down and arrange all my new article ideas here.
